Duo Ermitage

Châlons-en-champagne
Centre social et culturel du Verbeau, 18:00

The Ermitage Duo, consisting of Paul-Marie Kuzma on cello and Ionah Maiatsky on piano, was founded in 2018 at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP). They trained with distinguished mentors and have stood out in several competitions, notably winning second prize and the La Belle Saison prize at the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition in 2022.

These two musicians present a program featuring Ludwig van Beethoven’s 7 Variations on “Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen” from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and Felix Mendelssohn’s Variations Concertantes—two brilliant works that showcase the boundless richness of this musical genre. They will conclude the concert with the irresistible Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 19 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, a true masterpiece of virtuosity and lyricism, written in 1901 and inspired by Frédéric Chopin’s Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 65 for the same instrumentation.

This final work, alongside the sonatas of Francis Poulenc and Nikolai Roslavets, is also featured on their debut CD, released earlier this year under the Scala Music label.
