Schubert, Debussy & Ravel

Vic-sur-Seille
Salle des Carmes, 20:30

The beautiful acoustics of the Salle des Carmes will be the setting for Schubert's mythical Fantasy in F minor, written in 1828 shortly before his death. Composed for piano four hands, this piece is characterised by its melodic richness and expressive power. Divided into four movements, it explores nostalgic, lyrical, luminous and tragic themes, offering the performers the opportunity to create an intimate, dialogical dynamic. The recital continues with Debussy's Sonata for Cello and Piano, written in 1915. It blends the warm sonority of the cello with the colour and fluidity of the piano, creating an atmosphere that is both mystical and sensual. Divided into three movements, each exploring different characters and emotions, the sonata perfectly illustrates the many components of Debussy's unique style. Ravel's Trio, composed in 1914, brings the evening to a close. This work demonstrates virtuosity and originality, integrating jazz influences and modern writing within a classical framework. The three-movement structure emphasises the constant dialogue between the instruments, alternating moments of great intensity with slower, more introspective passages.
