Young Musicians of the Region

Félicité Laîné, a pianist from Châlons-en-Champagne, invites cellist Lila Beauchard and soprano Lisa Van Meenen—two of her closest musical partners, whom she met at the Conservatoire of Reims—for an exceptional evening of chamber music.

Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen (The Shepherd on the Rock) and Auf dem Strom (On the River) will take you on a journey to the heart of Romantic-era Germany, where shepherds gaze wistfully at the mountains.

“There is nothing more to say, for they are perfect,” wrote Debussy about the melodies of his contemporary Henri Duparc. The three songs featured in this program will introduce you to a composer celebrated by his peers, yet one who left behind very few works, having destroyed much of his own output.

The Trois pièces pour violoncelle et piano by Nadia Boulanger will immerse you in the world of a woman who left an indelible mark on her era. A composer in her youth and a globally renowned pedagogue for most of her life, Boulanger—who won second prize in the prestigious Prix de Rome—remains an iconic figure in 20th-century music.
